Media Release: Denver Public Schools Seeks Diverse Applicants for 2024 Community Planning and Advisory Committee

The Community Planning and Advisory Committee will help put together a potential 2024 bond package proposal

Denver Public Schools (“DPS”) is seeking candidates for the 2024 Community Planning and Advisory Committee. The Community Planning and Advisory Committee (“CPAC”) is responsible for examining the needs of schools across the district and working together to prepare recommendations on air conditioning, building maintenance, and improving safety and technology, among other essential investments.

We want to engage families within our DPS community in alignment with our strategic roadmap.

Anyone who lives within the DPS boundaries and has an interest in advancing public education are encouraged to apply.

“We want to create a diverse pool of committee members to ensure fair representation of the entire district,” said DPS Superintendent Dr. Alex Marrero. “We are looking for applicants who have diverse backgrounds, representing different neighborhoods, professions, and life experiences.”

The 2024 CPAC will play a critical role in creating a bond package proposal that, if approved by the Denver Board of Education, will be presented to Denver voters in November of 2024.

Members are expected to attend five full CPAC meetings and four to six subcommittee meetings from January to June of 2024. Members are expected to come to the committee ready to collaborate in helping DPS to achieve its goal of ensuring Every Learner Thrives.

2024 CPAC Applications are available in English and in Spanish. The application opens on Oct. 17, and will remain open until Nov. 17, 2023. The selection process for candidates will take place Dec. 1 through Dec. 15, 2023. Please visit ourwordourbonddps.org for more information and contact Melissa_rosales@dpsk12.org with questions.
