In this video recap, students and community members gathered at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Early College (DMLK) to celebrate their new athletic facilities with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event honored the hard work and dedication that went into the project. Speakers shared gratitude for the Denver taxpayers who voted in 2016 to pass a bond. Thanks to Denver taxpayers, the school received over $20 million in funding.
The school received a new CHSAA soccer field and a new CHSAA gymnasium and multiple support spaces including: training rooms, an athletic office, locker rooms, restrooms, storage, concessions, ticket sales stands and a “Hall of Fame'' corridor connecting the existing main entry to the new wing.
“I urge you all to listen to the voices today that helped make this dream a reality and to let yourself be inspired by their dedication to students and to the work they do,” said Superintendent Dr. Alex Marrero.
